Organised by “Hansadhwani”—a nature, art, and cultural organisation—the unique event featuring the ‘Late Prasanna Kumar Medhi and Putuli Medhi Memorial Award,’ the ‘Memorial Lecture,’ the ‘Hansadhwani Silpi Sanman 2026,’ a ‘Special Honour for Artistic Use of Social Media,’ ‘Special Felicitations under the Inspirational Personality and Organisation Category,’ and an intimate discussion titled ‘Prakriti Antaranga Alap’ was grandly held at the Kanaklal Barua Auditorium.

The ‘Late Prasanna Kumar Medhi and Putuli Medhi Memorial Lecture’ was delivered by environmentalist and senior journalist Apurba Ballabh Goswami, who presented an insightful speech on pollution and urban beautification.

Meanwhile, prizes were awarded to the three winning schools of the ‘Late Prasanna Kumar Medhi and Putuli Medhi Inter-School Memorial Quiz Competition’ held earlier on January 11:

• 1st Place: Asam Jatiya Vidyalaya received ₹5,000, a memento, a certificate, and an angavastra (traditional stole) featuring the Hansadhwani badge.
• 2nd Place: Sankardev Shishu Niketan, Maligaon received ₹3,000, a memento, a certificate, and an angavastra featuring the Hansadhwani badge.
• 3rd Place: Railway Higher Secondary School, Maligaon received ₹2,000, a memento, a certificate, and an angavastra featuring the Hansadhwani badge.

Participation certificates were also presented to all participating schools

A major attraction of the event was the “Hansadhwani Artist Award 2026,” which was conferred upon Mr. Bhaskarjyoti Acharya. The award included ₹10,000, an artist memento, a certificate, and an angavastra featuring the Hansadhwani badge.

Following this, a special honour for the tasteful use of social media was presented to the page “Poetica,” run by Cotton University student Pradyumna Das. This award consisted of ₹1,000, a memento, a certificate, and an angavastra.

In the Inspirational Personality category, special felicitations were accorded to Dipanjali Das Pathak, Archana Borthakur, Sujita Das, Mayuri Dutta, Nibedita Hazarika, and Aparna Hazarika. Their speeches captivated the audience.

Another major highlight was an intimate interaction between Nilotpal Mahanta and the audience. He enriched the event by scientifically answering various questions about birds and sharing insightful new information.

During the event, a short documentary on Hansadhwani’s campaign titled “From Waste to Wonder: Let Nature Prosper” was screened. The audience was further enthralled by a fusion of music and poetry, a mime performance by young students of Beli Academy, and a dance tribute dedicated to Sudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and the beloved artist Zubeen Garg, led by dance expert Doreen Goswami.

The founding secretary of Hansadhwani, Sangeeta Medhi, stated that the ‘Late Prasanna Kumar Medhi and Putuli Medhi Memorial Award’ along with the ‘Hansadhwani Artist Award’ will be presented annually to distinguished individuals who enrich society through their multifaceted talents in various fields.

Executive engineers from the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) and the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) attended the event, alongside prominent figures from literature, journalism, and the cultural sphere, teachers from participating schools, family members of the late Medhi, and active members of Hansadhwani.
